The Best Taekwondo Management Software in 2026, Compared

Young taekwondo students in white doboks lined up across a dojang floor on belt testing day

Imagine it's testing week at Hogu Wild Taekwondo, a school I made up for this post (the pun came free). It's 4pm, the Little Tigers are bouncing off the pads, and 40 kids are on Saturday's testing list.

Three of them are siblings. One is a 13-year-old who's ready for black belt, which at her age means a poom, not a dan.

And at 9pm, a parent texts to ask what time testing starts.

A lot of dojangs test every two or three months, and every test asks the same questions.

Who's eligible? Who's old enough? Who's paid?

Taekwondo management software is supposed to answer all three before Saturday.

The short version

  • An independent dojang with a big kids' program and families: Gymdesk.
  • Why: It ties attendance, time at rank, and a minimum age to the testing list, bills a family to one payer, and charges the promotion fee when a student is promoted.
  • A small dojang under 25 students: MatGoat ($40) or MartialArts.io ($47) for the lowest price, then Kicksite ($49), or Gym Admin free with a 1% transaction fee.
  • A school that wants poom and dan language out of the box: MartialArts.io.

Quick disclosure: I write about gym software for a living, and my poomsae would embarrass a white belt. So this post sticks to the paperwork.

What Taekwondo Management Software Has to Handle

A taekwondo school runs on frequent testing, a kids' program split by age, and families.

The age rules make rank tracking harder than in most arts. The software has to connect attendance, age, and time at rank to the testing list, then connect the testing list to the bill.

Geup, poom, and dan, with age rules

Most schools climb through about 10 geup ranks to black belt.

Under Kukkiwon rules, a student under 15 who passes black belt testing earns a poom, which can convert to a dan at 15.

From white belt to black belt, Kukkiwon style

3

The adult black belt rank
A student who is already 15 or older when they pass earns a dan directly. ITF and ATA schools run their own ladders.

ITF and ATA schools run their own ladders, and plenty of schools add tips or stripes. You need custom ranks and an age requirement on each rank.

The full ladders for WT, ITF, and ATA are in the taekwondo belt order guide.

Testing every two or three months

Before testing night, you need a list of who's eligible by classes, time at rank, and age.

Then you promote the whole group in one step and print the certificates. Every belt-based art does this, and belt tracking software handles it the same way across them.

2

3

4

5
Bill the fee
To the card on file
The software should carry each step into the next, so nobody retypes a name between the list and the bill.

Test fees at promotion

In a lot of dojangs, the test fee is still cash in an envelope on testing night.

Software should apply the fee to the student's bill at the time of promotion, using the card already on file.

Little Tigers and age groups

Little Tigers and juniors usually run as their own kids martial arts programs, separate from adults, with their own schedules, prices, and sometimes belt colors.

The software needs to hold all of them in a single student record.

That way, a kid moving up from Little Tigers doesn't become a new member. And every minor needs a parent's signature on a liability waiver, which belongs on that same record.

Family billing

A family with three kids testing on the same night should get one bill from your martial arts billing software, with the sibling discount already applied.

When each child bills separately, someone does the sibling math by hand, and someone else gets a refund.

Talking to parents

Parents are your real customers, and they don't all read email.

Masters Chris Knight and Brian Foster own King Tiger Taekwondo in Harrisburg, North Carolina. They text announcements for exactly that reason:

"There's a lot of people who just don't check emails, even though we remind them."

So pick software that texts and emails parents from one place, and shows them their kid's progress without a phone call. That's the easiest member management tool for a taekwondo school, as far as parents are concerned.

After-school and summer camp

Plenty of dojangs also run after-school martial arts programs and a summer camp.

You need each one as its own program on the same student record, so camp doesn't end up in a second tool with a second login. No software can make a seven-year-old find both shoes, sadly.

The summer camp profitability calculator will run your camp numbers.

Poomsae by rank

Students practice at home, and parents want to know which form in the taekwondo curriculum their kid should be working on.

Software that shows each student the poomsae for their own rank keeps the yellow belts out of the Koryo videos.

Gear and the competition team

Doboks, hogus, and sparring gear sell at the front desk, so it helps to charge them to the member's card on file.

A demo or Olympic-sparring team runs best as its own program with its own schedule. If you host tournaments yourself, that's a different tool: martial arts tournament software.

The needs at a glance

Nine jobs is a lot to keep in your head during a sales demo. Each one is below, with what good looks like and the red flag to listen for:

Need

Testing every two or three months
An eligibility list from classes and time at rank, and the group promoted in one step
Counting attendance cards the night before
Test fees
The fee charged to the card on file at promotion
An envelope of cash on testing night
Little Tigers and age groups
Separate programs on one student record
A new member profile every time a kid moves up
Family billing
One payer, one bill, sibling discounts applied for you
Three invoices and a refund
Parents
Texts and emails from one place, with progress they can see
Group texts from the master's own phone
After-school and camp
Each as its own program on the same record
A camp sign-up sheet on the front desk
Poomsae by rank
Videos each student sees for their own rank
A playlist nobody can find
Gear and the competition team
Gear charged to the card on file, and the team as its own program
Cash for doboks and a team roster in a group chat

How This Comparison Was Built

To make the list, a tool had to publish martial arts features you can check and a price you can read.

It also had to show up where taekwondo owners look: in searches for taekwondo software, in the taekwondo lists that rank, or in owner threads on r/taekwondo.

I read every price off the vendor's own pricing page on November 4, 2026. Each tool was judged on the needs above.

Gymdesk got the same treatment, gaps included.

The martial arts management software comparison covers every belt-based art. This one goes deeper on taekwondo.

A few names from other taekwondo lists aren't here. Acuity Scheduling and Join It are a scheduler and a dues app, with no belt testing. Member Solutions leads with a managed billing service.

A few others in those lists, like ATLAS and MyDojang, didn't show a price I could verify.

The Best Taekwondo Management Software in 2026

Which is the best taekwondo software for you depends on your school's size, how many kids it has, and how often you test.

These aren't ranked.

Gymdesk goes first. It's our blog, and we're not that humble. The rest are grouped by the kind of school they suit.

If you only have a minute, the table has what each tool suits and what it costs to start:

Prices from each vendor's own pricing page, November 4, 2026. "Not listed" means the vendor's pages don't say. The feature may still exist, so ask.

Whichever tools you demo, ask every vendor two things: can I set a minimum age on each rank, and can one parent pay for all their kids on one bill?

The Ask them lines below (Ask us, for Gymdesk) cover what's specific to each tool.

Gymdesk

Gymdesk homepage, November 2026
Source: gymdesk.com homepage, November 4, 2026.

Gymdesk is martial arts school software built for independent gyms.

It was started by a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. Today it's led by Alex Cuevas, a taekwondo black belt who now trains BJJ as a white belt.

You build your geup, poom, and dan ladder as custom ranks. Then you set promotion criteria for each rank: classes attended, days at the current rank, training hours, minimum age, or skills.

In taekwondo, that minimum age is how you handle poom versus dan.

Students see their progress toward the next belt in the member portal, and you get notified when someone's ready to test.

On testing night, you promote students one at a time or in bulk, with scheduled dates, evaluation forms, and promotion fees.

Little Tigers, juniors, and adults run as separate programs with their own ranks. Family accounts put siblings on one payer, and a family discount can apply automatically.

Price: Gymdesk uses active-member pricing. It costs less when you process through Gymdesk Payments, and you can still bring your own processor.

  • Micro (up to 50 active members): $75/mo with Gymdesk Payments, $100 with your own processor
  • Small (51–100): $100 / $125
  • Medium (101–150): $150 / $175
  • Large (151–250): $200 / $240
  • Enterprise (251+): quoted

Prices are in US dollars.

The lower rate applies with Gymdesk Payments in the US and Canada, or with an approved processing partner elsewhere, subject to approval.

Visitors, frozen and canceled members, and prospects don't count toward the active total.

Every plan includes every feature, unlimited staff accounts, and a gym website, and there's a 30-day free trial with no credit card.

Limitation: under 50 students, it isn't the cheapest tool here. A branded app in the app stores is $100/mo extra. The standard member app is included.

Ask us: Can my families' saved cards move over from my current software without parents re-entering them? What will my bill be at the student count I expect a year from now?

Best for: an independent taekwondo school with a big kids' program, families, and testing every couple of months.

You'll see Gymdesk's rank tracking called basic, with reports and no alerts. Not true. The FAQ on Gymdesk's member profiles page lists promotion criteria per program, minimum age included, and the ready-to-test notification is built in.

Kicksite

Kicksite homepage, November 2026
Source: kicksite.com homepage, November 4, 2026.

Kicksite has the best origin story on this list.

Its taekwondo page says it was "born from the vision of a Taekwondo instructor" nearly 20 years ago, and it still builds for martial arts schools.

You create belt testing events, add candidates by attendance or days at rank, and promote from an eligible list. An optional setting shows each student's days or classes at rank when they check in.

There's inventory for merch and apparel, plus family profiles.

Price: Kicksite bills by active student count: 0–25 students $49/mo, 26–50 $99, 51–100 $149, and 101+ $199. Every feature comes on every tier.

Its homepage was also advertising Kicksite free for the rest of 2026 on November 4.

Limitation: the price doubles at the 26th student. Its preferred payment processor is Basys, though it also integrates with Stripe.

Ask them: Do students on a freeze count toward my price tier?

Best for: a traditional dojang under 25 students that wants a vendor founded by a taekwondo instructor.

Spark Membership

Spark Membership homepage, November 2026
Source: sparkmembership.com homepage, November 4, 2026.

Spark Membership sells one plan, built for marketing-led schools.

Belt progression tracking and testing-fee billing are in the core product, alongside a CRM for leads and trials, automated payments through Spark Payments, and attendance. Family accounts bill as one, with a parent portal.

Price: an eight-week free trial, then $199 a month, with free student data migration.

Limitation: there's no smaller tier, so a 40-student dojang pays what a 400-student school pays. (The 400-student school is getting the better deal.)

Ask them: Is there a lower price for a school under 50 students?

Best for: a growth-focused school that wants its software vendor helping with enrollment marketing.

Zen Planner

Zen Planner homepage, November 2026
Source: zenplanner.com homepage, November 4, 2026.

Zen Planner is an established multi-program platform.

Its taekwondo page promises to "track every belt, stripe, and poomsae milestone." It covers color belt and black belt dan ranks, and alerts flag who's ready for testing.

You can set up Little Tigers, junior, adult, and competition team classes with their own schedules and pricing, plus family billing.

Price: packages start at $99/mo for Studio, with Essentials from $198 and Ultimate from $348. A website starts at $99/mo, Engage at $249/mo, and a branded app is $39/mo.

Limitation: nearly every price on the page says "starting at," so you'll need a demo to get your real number.

Ask them: What will I pay at my active-member count? When a junior black belt turns 15, can their poom switch to a dan without me changing it by hand?

Best for: a large multi-program dojang that wants modules and a demo-led setup.

Martialytics

Martialytics homepage, November 2026
Source: martialytics.com homepage, November 4, 2026.

Martialytics puts grading and student numbers at the center.

Every plan has every feature, with unlimited locations and a free student app.

Price: by student count, 0–50 students $69/mo, 51–100 $99, 101–200 $129, and 200+ $199. Leads and inactive students are free, and there's a 30-day free trial.

Limitation: its pages don't describe family billing or an age rule for ranks.

Ask them: Inactive students are free, so what makes a student inactive? Can one parent pay for all their kids on one bill?

Best for: a school that wants a low per-student price and grading at the center.

MartialArts.io

MartialArts.io homepage, November 2026
Source: martialarts.io homepage, November 4, 2026.

MartialArts.io speaks dojang.

Its taekwondo page promises to "manage poom and dan rankings, organize poomsae curriculum, and streamline testing events for WT and ITF schools alike." Each belt can carry requirements like poomsae, one-step sparring, breaking, and terminology.

On testing, you set dates, add eligible students, and invite them automatically.

Price: Basic $47/mo for up to 50 students and two users, Deluxe $97 for up to 150 students and three users, and Premium $147 for up to 1,000 students and five users. It's month to month, with a 14-day free trial.

Limitation: each plan caps users and leads. An owner with two staff fits Deluxe, and a third staffer means Premium at $147.

Ask them: When a junior black belt turns 15, can their poom switch to a dan on its own?

Best for: a small-to-mid dojang that wants poom and dan language out of the box.

MatGoat

MatGoat homepage, November 2026
Source: matgoat.com homepage, November 4, 2026.

MatGoat is a young, flat-priced platform.

Its taekwondo page says you can "track geup and dan ranks, organize poomsae by grade," and that it "works for WT and ITF schools and any curriculum in between."

Both plans include kiosk check-in, promotion history, private videos for students, and messages to everyone.

Price: Basic $40/mo for up to 50 students, and Professional $60/mo with unlimited students and payments. Taxes aren't included, and there's a free trial.

Limitation: student payments are on Professional only, and its pricing page doesn't show family billing or kids'-program tools.

Ask them: What's the card processing rate on Professional? Can one parent pay for all their kids on one bill?

Best for: a small dojang on the tightest budget.

Gym Admin

Gym Admin homepage, November 2026
Source: gymadmin.app homepage, November 4, 2026.

Gym Admin is free to start, and its taekwondo page calls out after-school and holiday programs by name.

It builds a list of students eligible to test from your curriculum criteria, notifies you when someone's ready for the next belt, and bills programs separately from memberships.

Price: Starter (Free) is $0 in software fees for up to 50 active students, and Pro is $59/mo with unlimited students. Gym Admin charges 1% of each transaction on top of Stripe's fees.

Limitation: the 1% grows with your tuition, so free gets a little less free with every student you add. Email and text messages to new or absent students are listed as upcoming features.

Ask them: What will the 1% fee add up to on my monthly tuition? When will texts to new and absent students go live?

Best for: a brand-new dojang under 50 students that wants to start at $0 in software fees.

PushPress

PushPress homepage, November 2026
Source: pushpress.com homepage, November 4, 2026.

PushPress is a general gym platform that now has martial arts rank tracking.

Its rank tracking lets you set custom ranking criteria and manage promotions, and invite-only events work for belt tests.

Price: the Free plan is $0 a month with higher card processing (4.99% + 30¢). Pro is $159/mo, and Max is $229/mo. A branded app is $97/mo, and the Grow CRM is $329/mo.

Limitation: rank tracking isn't on the Free plan. The plan comparison shows it from Pro, so belt testing starts at $159 a month.

Ask them: Can I set a minimum age for each rank on the Pro plan?

Best for: a school that wants PushPress's app and CRM add-ons and will pay for Pro.

Three more tools publish a price but didn't get a full review here.

MyStudio ($79/mo) sells to enrichment programs, and its $159 Growth plan adds test readiness, testing events, and bulk promotions.

Black Belt CRM runs $49 to $249/mo by member band.

Dojo Expert runs €14 to €33/mo.

What Taekwondo Software Actually Costs

The pricing model changes your taekwondo gym software bill more than the headline number does.

So back to Hogu Wild. Today it has 60 active students, mostly kids, and in two years it could have 150.

For each tool, the table uses the cheapest plan that includes belt testing, since that's the plan Hogu Wild needs. Card processing fees aren't included.

At 60 students, Gymdesk is mid-pack.

Gym Admin ($59), MatGoat ($60), MartialArts.io ($97), and Martialytics ($99) all publish a lower base price, and Zen Planner starts from $99 before modules.

Gym Admin's 1% changes that math, though.

If Hogu Wild collects $9,000 a month in tuition, the 1% is $90, so Gym Admin comes to about $149 before Stripe's own fees. At 150 students and $22,500 a month, it's about $284.

Which Taekwondo Software Fits Your Dojang

Size, the share of kids, and how often you test decide most of this.

An independent dojang with a big kids' program

For a lot of dojangs, this is the whole business.

If you're hunting for the best student management software for a taekwondo school like this, start with Gymdesk. The testing list and the family bill sit on the same record, so a promotion and its fee land on the same bill.

If by the best CRM for a taekwondo school you mean lead follow-up and trial pipelines, Spark is built around that, and it pitches help with your taekwondo marketing too.

A small traditional dojang under 25 students

On price, start with MatGoat ($40, or $60 with payments), MartialArts.io ($47), or Kicksite ($49). Gym Admin is free under 50 students, with a 1% transaction fee and Stripe's fees on top.

Gymdesk Micro costs more, but it holds one price all the way to 50 students.

An after-school and camp-heavy school

You want after-school, camp, and regular classes as separate programs on the same family record.

Gymdesk does that.

If you also run enrichment programs, MyStudio sells to them, and its Growth plan adds testing tools.

A WT, ITF, or ATA affiliate

Check that the software can build your ladder exactly, including poom and the age rule.

Gymdesk handles poom and dan with custom ranks and a minimum-age rule, and MartialArts.io names both on its taekwondo page.

Zen Planner tracks dan ranks and poomsae milestones, and MatGoat says it works for WT and ITF schools and any curriculum in between.

If you teach more than one art, the karate vs taekwondo guide covers where the two systems differ.

A new dojang

Price out the whole first year of taekwondo school software, including the plan that runs testing.

Gym Admin is free under 50 students (plus its 1% fee), and Gymdesk Micro and Martialytics both hold one price up to 50.

If you're still planning, here's how to start a taekwondo school.

Where each school type should start

Typical sizes are rough, and plenty of schools fit two rows. Read across to the reason before you settle on a name:

Running a Taekwondo School on Gymdesk

In Gymdesk, the testing list and the family bill are linked to the same student record, so you can manage everything in one place without a second tool for camp.

You can set each piece up during the free trial, before your next testing night.

The taekwondo jobs, one at a time:

  • Testing night. Set a minimum age on each poom rank, let attendance tracking show who's met the requirements, and run the group as one grading event with the promotion fee attached.
  • Families and parents. Put siblings under one parent account so every test fee goes on one bill, and text and email parents from the same place. The member app shows each kid's ranks and schedule.
  • Poomsae by rank. Upload text and video that students see based on their current rank.

At King Tiger Taekwondo, the owners single out belt promotions:

"…belt promotions and just organization overall, even the list of students… how they're filtered… we're blown away."

The rest of the King Tiger story is on the blog.

Support is the other thing the owners mention. Brian Foster put it this way:

“Every time I have a problem with Gymdesk, I reach out, boom, I get an instant reply from a human.”

FAQ

Taekwondo Management Software FAQs

The questions dojang owners ask before a demo.

What is the best taekwondo management software?
Gymdesk is the best software for a taekwondo school with a big kids' program and families, though it isn't the cheapest under 50 students. Under 25 students, MatGoat ($40), MartialArts.io ($47), and Kicksite ($49) have the lowest prices, and Gym Admin is free under 50 students with a 1% transaction fee plus Stripe's fees. A school that wants poom and dan language built in should look at MartialArts.io.
How much does taekwondo school software cost?
On November 4, 2026, published prices for a 60-student school ran from $59 a month plus 1% of transactions (Gym Admin Pro) to $199 a month (Spark Membership). Check which plan includes belt testing, because PushPress puts rank tracking on its $159 Pro plan.
What software best handles taekwondo belt-testing cycles?
Look for promotion criteria from attendance, time at rank, and minimum age. You also want an eligibility list before testing night, bulk promotion, and the test fee charged at promotion. Gymdesk, Kicksite, Zen Planner, and MartialArts.io all publish eligibility lists and testing tools.
Which software suits after-school taekwondo programs?
One that keeps after-school, camp, and regular classes as separate programs on the same family record. Gymdesk does that, and Gym Admin bills programs separately from memberships. MyStudio sells to enrichment programs, with testing tools on its Growth plan.
Can I run a small dojang on free software?
Gym Admin is free up to 50 active students, and it charges 1% of each transaction on top of Stripe's fees. PushPress has a free plan, but rank tracking starts on its paid Pro plan. Most others offer a free trial instead: 30 days on Gymdesk and Martialytics, 14 days on MartialArts.io, and eight weeks on Spark Membership.
