How Milad and Ella Moghaddam Built ActiveRange Method From a Basement to 200 Members in Two Years

Starring
Ella Moghaddam holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and has spent 14+ years teaching mat and Reformer Pilates. A former competitive swimmer, she came to Pilates after Milad pushed her to try it in 2017—a single side-plank session converted her, and she's led ActiveRange's Pilates programming ever since. Her teaching blends Pilates with resistance training and runs the day-to-day on the Reformer floor.
Milad Moghaddam is a civil engineer turned strength coach with over 10 years of training experience and a background in competitive bodybuilding. He ran his own gym in Iran before immigrating to Canada and spent years working for established Canadian fitness companies before going independent in 2023. He created the Internal Strength Model—the joint-integrity-first methodology at the core of ActiveRange's training—and is a Pro Trainer with CanFit Pro, certifying other trainers through the studio's education arm.
About the Gym
ActiveRange Method is a boutique Pilates and strength studio in Newmarket, Ontario, founded in 2023 by Milad and Ella Moghaddam in their home basement and relocated to a 3,300 sq ft commercial space on Yonge Street in September 2025. The studio combines Reformer and mat Pilates, semi-private strength training built on Milad's Internal Strength Model, mobility programming, recovery services, and nutrition coaching under one roof. Every client starts on an individualized program built from a body-composition scan, a goals interview, and a biomechanical assessment, then runs that program inside a small group. Beyond the studio, ActiveRange runs a fitness education arm offering CanFit Pro Personal Trainer Specialist certification, a proprietary ActiveRange Anatomy Course, and Assessment & Program Design Levels 1 and 2.
