We’re back after a hiatus with a packed feature update. While we’ve been pushing a bunch of small enhancements, there’s a few big new features we wanted to share with you here today.
A new website editor and template
The built-in Gymdesk website started as a launching spot for new fitness businesses without existing online presence.
It had all the essentials for people looking for information about your gym – general info, a few photos from your location, the gym schedule, pricing, instructors and directions.
Over the years, the needs of our users have evolved and so has your requirements from the provided gym website. We decided it was time to reimagine the built-in Gymdesk website and offer a much more robust solution for our customers.
What’s New:
A lot has changed! The biggest change is the ability to control the website layout – you can now create dynamic layouts, including side-by-side website elements to create a much more creative presentation of your content.
Various elements, such as website forms, images, lists and so on can be dragged and dropped in specific places to arrange the layout to your heart’s content. And all of this is done in a the actual website layout, so you can see how it would look like while editing it.
The next big change is the ability to adjust the styling of the website as the whole and of individual elements. From colors to font-sizes, to dynamic background and margins, you can customize the website to a much larger degree than before.
Those changes are not limited to the homepage either – you can create an unlimited number of pages and craft them in a similar manner.
This should allow you to make a modern looking website like so:
Which brings us to another important update to the gym website:
a new, modern website template.
To showcase the different options available with the new website editor, and to give a strong starting point to those of you without a good direction of how you want the website to look like, we’ve added a new template option we call the “modern” template. The new template can be selected in the website settings.
Note: some of the information on the homepage might be lost when switching to the new template, so make sure to save it somewhere if you would like to re-use it.
Digital Gift Cards
Gift cards are a special type of product you can offer in your online store or directly through the point-of-sale feature.
Family and friends of potential customers can purchase a gift card that can then be used during member sign-up to pay for memberships, or during check-out on the online store to pay for gear and other products you sell at the gym.
Gift cards can be utilized in various promotions and giveaways as an additional marketing and revenue channel for the gym.
To create gift cards, head to the “Sales” section in your account, then “Products” -> “Gift Cards.” You can define the availability of gift cards and add a custom description for special promotions.
Gift cards can then be purchased via the online store or sold to members via the point-of-sale feature. The gift card is delivered as a digital discount code that can be using during member sign-up and in the online store.
A large list of smaller features
We released a lot of small enhancements over the last several months – too many to list here. Here’s a list of the more noteworthy improvements you might find useful –
- Landing pages for lead capture forms: Lead capture forms now have a dedicated link you can use if you don’t want to embed the form in your website or are not using the Gymdesk gym website. You can click the title of the form from the forms list in the “Website” section of your account to get to the landing page.
- Membership cancellation requests: Members can now submit a membership cancellation request via their online account. This option can be turned on in the account settings, from “Settings” -> “Members” -> “Member Portal”.
- New automation trigger: We’ve a new automation trigger titled “New booking” – triggers when a new booking is made. A specific schedule can be specified for the trigger.
- Ability to start a new automation on automation end: You can now set a new automation to start when the current automation ends or exits on any of its exit conditions.
- Dedicated “Parent/Guardian name” field: When a member is a minor based on the settings in your account (via the date of birth field), a dedicated field for parent / guardian name will be shown. This is in order to avoid confusion for parent who sometimes enter their own name as the member name for child sign-ups.
- Include custom member fields in attendance export: Custom member fields are now included in the attendance export, allowing to create more flexible report exports.
- Ability to turn off memberships’ auto renewal: You can prevent a specific membership from auto-renewing from the membership list on the member profile.
- Single item discounts: You can now create discounts that apply only to specific products instead of the entire cart on the online shop.
- Scheduling freeze / cancellation of individual memberships: In addition to scheduling the freeze / cancellation of an entire member profile, you can also schedule the same for individual memberships on their profile. This allows for a more smooth transition of members between membership tiers.
- SMS payment notifications: You can now set up payment notifications – successful payments, declined payments and payment reminders – to be set via SMS in addition to Email.
More regular updates are coming
We have heard your feedback about the frequency of updates such as this one. We are working on adding an in-app notification area which would show all new updates as those go live and allow you to view all historical updates. We hope to have this available early in 2025.
