You already know word of mouth is how most members find you—the trouble is keeping track of it. Gymdesk captures the referral at sign-up: you pick the referring member from a dropdown, and the two accounts link from that moment.

Referral rewards apply automatically when the referrer’s next scheduled payment runs—not instantly. Gymdesk only applies the reward if the referred member is still active and has made at least one payment with nothing overdue, so you never reward a referral that didn’t stick.
Your choice. With auto-reward on, Gymdesk applies the reward at the referrer’s next payment with no manual step. Turn auto-reward off to approve each one yourself from the referrals list. If a referrer’s name doesn’t match an existing member, the referral waits in a Pending Referrals queue for you to assign to the right person.
At sign-up, the new member selects “Referral” under “How did you hear about us?” and types the referring member’s name, which links the two accounts. If the typed name doesn’t match a member exactly, the referral lands in Pending Referrals so you can assign it manually.
Gymdesk uses one reward setting per gym—a fixed amount or percentage—so automatic tiering by referral count or plan length isn’t built in. For escalating or milestone rewards (e.g., a private session after three referrals), turn off auto-reward and apply that reward manually from the referrals list.
There’s no direct cash payout, but you have four options: a discount on the next payment, a recurring membership discount, account credit added to the member’s balance (usable for dues or in-house purchases), or a manual reward you hand out yourself—the right fit for gear, a private class, or anything outside the system.
